So I we could have a problem on where to put his character soon.

[edit]

In the comic it is highly hinted that his character will soon be introduced, only as a villain. So do we put him next to Shane and The Governor if this is the case?Jokersflame (talk) 19:31, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

– The Walking Dead character is the only notable "Daryl Dixon" article in Wikipedia. The only other "Daryl Dixon" article is Daryl Dixon (economic writer), already disambiguated by its title, which is an orphan article, created by the subject. Barsoomian (talk) 18:13, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Like GrayFullbuster knows because GrayFullbuster has helped revert that silliness, this article was semi-protected because of it. And you, Abdalla999b, are completely predictable; did exactly what I predicted you would (by revealing your Wikipedia account so far). Flyer22 (talk) 10:03, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Documenting here some of your clear-cut WP:Vandalism to the occupation field in the infobox of this article (sometimes using different IPs): [1][2][3][4][5][6]. Unless you and some friends decided to troll this article for hours, such recent edits were all made by you. Flyer22 (talk) 10:24, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics show Daryl Dixion is the Most bad ass and most loved character in the entire walking dead series and should be named as such.

The crossbow that Daryl Dixon uses is actually a Horton Scout HD 125. The model 25 is incorrect. T3hp00ky (talk) 04:50, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The above guy is correct it is a Horton Scout HD 125. It is listed so in the WalkingDead Wiki page, also if you just Google search Horton Scout HD 12 or whatever the only results are the 125. ChobitsCrazy (talk) 21:42, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Daryl's crossbow

[edit]

I see that there is a bit of dispute whenever Daryl uses Horton Scout 125 HD or Stryker Strykezone 380. This is basicly original research, but confirmation can be probably found somewhere out there. Horton Scout 125 HD was used at first, but at episode 12 of season 3 it was lost. In episode 13 of same season this crossbow was replaced by Stryker Strykezone 380. I am not really a wikipedia contributor, but wanted to shed some light on the question. However, if the question is whenever Daryl used Horton Scout 125 or Horton Scout 25 - then I am inclined to say that Horton Scout 25 is simply non existant, but I can't be too sure since Horton Crossbows has no track of previous old models available to public.

What if I just send a fan letter to, lets say, comic book author with this question so, hopefully, it will be answered and published in some of the future comic book releases. That will do for reliable enough source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.228.73.191 (talk) 16:53, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Found a source that was confirmed to be reliable enough in IRC channel: http://www.mensfitness.com/life/entertainment/norman-reedus-the-walking-man This source specifically states that Horton Scout is ineed 125, not 25. 87.228.73.191 (talk) 18:10, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That Men's Fitness article on page 2 says the Horton Scout was replaced by a Stryker StrykeZone, so we can use it for both claims. I've rewritten the "Weapons" section based on that source. Huon (talk) 00:59, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Biker stuff and racism

[edit]

You could write a dissertation on all the dimensions of the racism/not-racism of biker culture. One could argue that the willingness to flaunt Nazi and racist symbols expresses such a deep disregard for the victims of racism that it is de facto racist, in spite of protestations that it's "merely" trolling or posturing. The article Rice burner scratches the surface of this. The book Best, Amy L., Fast Cars, Cool Rides: The Accelerating World of Youth and Their Cars (Google Books), pp. 80–106, ISBN 9780814799314 has a whole chapter on this, besides the biker-related sources I recently cited.

I think the most important thing to get is that the writers of the show know full well what they're doing: giving Daryl a bad boy demeanor and making his invariably chivalrous behavior more appealing.

The fact that Merle's chopper is a Triumph Bonneville and not a Harley is very strange: among the Southern outlaw biker culture, only US iron is tolerated. It could be to show that Merle is such a badass that he doesn't even care what bikers think, although I suspect it was accidental, a consequence of what the shows prop team had to work with or was familiar with, maybe a UK connection.

Daryl's new hipster-style custom bike appears to be an effort to distance him from the biker gang world, or simply pandering to the trendiest custom bike styles, Classified Moto being a much buzzed-about name in custom circles.

Also: guy who cares so much about stealth that he uses a bow rides around only on bikes with straight pipes. Yeah. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 18:49, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dennis Bratland, are you proposing something for this article? Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 19:03, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
"You could write a dissertation" is an expression meaning "much more could be written on this topic." But I usually don't think it's worthwhile to devote too much time to the minutiae of fiction and pop culture. Perhaps wait a few years and see if critics have a lot more to say about The Walking Dead and then run with it. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 19:05, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Dennis Bratland, I see that you added this to the article. I'm not sure that should be there; we have to be wary of WP:Original research. But I'll leave the inclusion or exclusion of that material to others. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 19:08, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
By all means point out which parts are original research so we can take care of that. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 19:11, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
"Nazi and white supremacist symbols are common among outlaw motorcycle clubs. These symbols, much like the modern use of the Confederate flag, are sometimes displayed solely to flout convention and provoke a reaction, or show that the wearer does not care if outsiders believe he is racist, thus rejecting political correctness, while sometimes they do express actual Nazi or racist sympathies." Are these sentences relevant to the article? This is an article about a TV character, not racism. They just seem out of place and like original research. -Shawn Crapo 21:22, 9 May 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sec 1971 (talkcontribs)

Sexuality

[edit]

Here Robert Kirkman describes Daryl as both "asexual" and "straight", to be clear though, asexual can also mean a "low interest in or desire for sexual activity". So you can be straight and asexual at the same time and Daryl hasn't shown interest in or desire for sexual activity once in his 7 year history on the show. Because of this, I believe he should be added to the Category:Fictional asexuals. It could also be noted though, that Norman Reedus was asked by Frank Darabont if he’d be open to the possibility of playing Daryl as gay, and when asked if the character might be gay, Robert Kirkman responded that the storyline "has been talked about" (all here).
