COI/VER/etc

[edit]

Continuing the points raised on my user Talk page:

  • WP:COI. Contributors with a connection to the subject of this article should review the "conflict of interest" (COI) guidelines. If COI editing causes disruption, the involved editors may be blocked.
  • WP:MOS. I had sought to address several formatting issues that related to Wikipedia's "manual of style" (including MOS:BOLD, MOS:SPELL09, WP:IRE-IRL, MOS:IMOS_COUNTIES, etc). An editor reverted all of these changes. In a single edit (effectively a revert). Which had a misleading edit summary. (Misleading or incorrect edit summaries are not "OK".)
  • WP:IMPARTIAL. In the same edit, a series of unsupported, unattributed and otherwise inappropriate editorial flourishes were restored. While I have removed these again, unless quoted or attributed to someone, editorial terms like the following are not appropriate: "rain soaked game", "encouraging signs", "increased enthusiasm", "encouraging performances", "guiding core nucleus of young players", etc. (Wikipedia content should be impartial and not read like a free WP:WEBHOST where club members promotionally extoll its activities).
  • WP:VER. All of the "references" recently added (like this one) are dead. Returning a 404 error. If an editor wants to use archived versions of these URLs as references, then they need to use the Internal Archive or similar tool to find the archived page. And correctly link it. Just adding a (non-functioning/invalid) "archive-url" parameter isn't in keeping with WP:BURDEN.
