Redundant
[edit]"If inequality was not such a powerful force in America, resources, funds, and schools would be distributed more evenly[12]." Isn't this horribly redundant?--Zxnelo (talk) 09:30, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Neutrality and Depth
[edit]This article has a few statements that are not neutral and are not supported by a reference. For example, "There is not a complete correlation between money and child rearing practices; however, wealth and income are the most significant defining factors as to which child-rearing practice will be used." It would be helpful to provide a source supporting this claim that is quite strong. Also, in order to make the article as a whole more neutral, it may be helpful to add information regarding other factors that impact the child-rearing practices that will be used.
In addition, this article could use more information in certain sections in order to improve the clarity. For example, it may be helpful to include more information under the "natural growth" section that clearly outlines how it is different from concerted cultivation. Furthermore, additional information under the inequality section might help connect this idea to the topic of concerted cultivation and natural growth so that the reader understands how these ideas are related. A final idea is to add information on the history and development of this concept to provide the reader with some background that might help them better understand concerted cultivation. 4apar (talk) 22:59, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
- The article suffers from original research, and after skimming through article text, it appears, that references lack proper depth (if any), and text is slanted towards one point of view — one that supports 'concerted cultivation' and underhandedly disparages working-class parents. Any child with insufficient or wrong parental care is likely to suffer issues. -Mardus /talk 21:10, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
Country specific terminology
[edit]Frequent use of phrases such as "middle school" are unhelpful to all that are unfamiliar with them. Those who are from countries with different schooling systems would be better served by references to age. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.84.54.146 (talk) 10:31, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
