House?
[edit]Hate to be pedantic but I think the house is in West Leederville and not Subiaco. One description has them driving down Thomas street and turning left into Railway Parade. They then turn right onto Cloudstreet, which is fictional I know, but turning right off Railway Parade would put you in West Leederville and not Subi.

It doesn't actually mention a suburb in the book does it? So it's a bit hard to say there in this suburb or the other methinks?

Youthinks correctly. But you are right when you say that in the book, the suburb isn't mentioned. But if you live in the area, (or look at a map I guess) it is pretty obivious that the house is in West Leederville and not Subi by following the directions given above, taken from the book. The widipedia review says that it is set in Subiaco.

Unreferenced
[edit]Is this a joke that the article is unreferenced? If this article is about a book talking about the plot of a book then what is this unreferenced comment?Hezbolarki Fun Ship 13:27, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Tidy Up
[edit]I gave what I thought to be a tidy up to this article. If there is contension please discuss. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.228.243.116 (talk) 10:22, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Giving away the ending?
[edit]Should the ending be given away? Granted, it is sort of telegraphed in the prologue, but surely there coiuld be a more subtle way of discussing the book's structure without givig everything away. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gymdudeva (talk • contribs) 18:08, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Family groupings?
[edit]In the Plot Summary it groups the families as the Pickles beleiving in a God of luck and the Lambs beleiving in a God of miracles.
This is wrong, you cannot group the families especially the Pickles. The only member of the pickles family who truly beleives in luck is Sam. Rose is highly tenacious and does not fall victim to the "shifty shadow" at any stage, Rose makes her own luck. As for Dolly, she is bitterly dissapointed with her circumstance and depresses into alcoholism and promiscuity if she beleives in luck she definetly doesn't think its going to change. Each character in the book is truly an individual and you cannot look at them any other way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.172.129.176 (talk) 08:58, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Burning the Man
[edit]In this chapter Guy Fawkes night is nominated as the night of firecrakers and bonfires. Guy Fawkes day is Nov 5th. My recollection is that "cracker night" in Australia was on Empire Day (May 24th) each year. I remember it fondly as just before winter rather than after winter. we used to get a half day holiday from school to build up the fires. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coota1950 (talk • contribs) 11:39, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
TV Series
[edit]I've remoed teh excessive cast list from the infromation about the TV series adaptation. This is not a place for a comprehensive cast list. -- Whpq (talk) 15:32, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed, and I've delete more. If the readers care about the details, they'll follow the link to Cloudstreet (TV series). Mitch Ames (talk) 12:55, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
"Major Themes"
[edit]Since when are the opinions of an obvious first-year, first-semester cultural studies student consider appropriate for an article? It reads like it was a written by a 19-year-old teenager, injecting her private-school, surburbanite opinions at the behest of her 22-year-old literary studies tutor.
There is no referencing, no facts, no attempt at impartiality, just bald-faced opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.181.132.75 (talk) 08:08, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
