Are cleaning events natural? Or is there some mechanism/program that facilitates them? The article is vague. (from 68.122.185.216)

Defining "Cleaning Event"

[edit]

The problem with this article is that it talks about the effects of cleaning events, but never actually states what a cleaning event is. I'd assume wind blowing off the dust would be a cleaning event, but is there other things that are part of the effect?Altairantares (talk) 05:09, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have added in some clarification: generally it seems to mean 'wind blew the dust away', but there is quote on this page (I have added a reference in the main article) http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/mer/news/mer-20090212.html which implies there are other types of cleaning events.

I think the article needs to list the individual cleaning events (probably with their Sol Number when the event occurred) which have occured to each rover and describe what happened in each particular case. There are number of NASA pages which can probably be used as source on this. http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&q="cleaning+event"+site%3Awww.nasa.gov —Preceding unsigned comment added by Monowiki (talkcontribs) 22:27, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article is basically just a gussied up definition of jargon. Is this really necessary? 50.40.249.64 (talk) 07:15, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
