The "history of the church" at the parish's own website says that church was built in 1100. No evidence is given for that assertion. If I have read the sources correctly (particularly Baines (1989)), it was Fulk Paynel who founded the Norman version of it – but he died in 1182 so he would have to have been a child prodigy or a centenarian or both. So I have written "mid 1100s" but that is surmise too. Can anyone resolve? 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 00:19, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
