"Some people label all Bandai collector-toys featuring die-cast metal as SOCs, even if they are not marketed under the name." Who exactly are these people? Only clueless buyers and idiots would label robots from GA, GB, GD, etc series as "Soul of Chogokins". I'm removing the sentence. 63.13.166.109 15:28, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Japanese word 超合金 (ちょうごうきん) is accurately romanized as chōgōkin, in accordance with the guidelines at WP:MOS-JA. "Chogokin", on the other hand, rendered into Japanese, becomes ちょごきん, which I am not certain is a word; if it is it does not have the same meaning nor would be written with the same kanji.

Is there any official backing to the spelling "chogokin", or is it simply a representation of laziness or linguistic ignorance on the part of Western collectors and/or the manufacturers? In other words, if this is a primarily Japanese topic simply being referenced (in English) by Westerners, with little or no official source for the English spelling "Chogokin", then I would argue that we should give due diligence to accuracy in romanizing the word. If, on the other hand, "Chogokin" is a common term in the Western world (among toy collectors, etc) and/or is the official English spelling chosen by the manufacturer/producer, then leaving it with this Anglicized, incorrect romanization is fine.
