Okinawa
[edit]Lots of Min Nan speaking Japanese citizens(?) in Naha, Okinawa when I visited in 1991. Not from the Sanzan period, I suppose. Do make a note of it.Jidanni 13:47, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Pre-Modern era??
[edit]I don't think this is necessary because there was no Chinese ethnicity before 16th century, if Chinese were one of early immigrants in Japan then they would have became Japanese by now, can't classified as "Chinese ethnic" in Japan.--Korsentry 04:24, 26 August 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by KoreanSentry (talk • contribs)
Migration?
[edit]Is it clear how exactly the Chinese were able to move and live in Japan? I know Chinese moved everywhere, even Mexico and Europe, to escape the horrors of war and overpopulation (just look at Hoa and Chinese Thai), but how exactly did they move to Japan? Was there some convention in which they all just hopped on board and went? I've heard that despite all the years, Chinese (and their Korean cousins, not literally, of course) still face a lot of discrimination from Japanese due to the tragic past? Also, it seems to be quite a rare minority Overseas Chinese group, compared to the millions living it up in other Asian countries, so I'm just wondering. Also, the stats provided here state that before the very recent times compared to history (before or around 1990s), there were only around 100,000 Chinese, but today they number well at 606,000. The cost of living in Japan has gotten quite costly these days, so how do they do it? If we could how they migrated to the article, it would be quite helpful. ★Dasani★ 08:01, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm no expert at foreign immigration to Japan, I think most Chinese nationals immigrated to Japan are mostly temporary stayers or laborers, the actual Chinese minority in Japan is very small compare to Koreans and Brazilian who became naturalized Japanese citizens.--Korsentry 04:20, 26 August 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by KoreanSentry (talk • contribs)
