Slight Americanisms?
[edit]One or two bits in this text read slightly awkwardly to this (British) reader:
- "noted 17th-century British architect Inigo Jones" - why on earth does "British" need to be specified there?
- "Lord Stanhope was apparently impressed by the young Charles, Prince of Wales" - "Prince Charles" would read much more smoothly, never mind what his official style might be.
- "Chevening's being placed at the disposal of Britain's Royal Family" - why not simply "the Royal Family", with the appropriate wikilink?
- "Prime Minister Thatcher" - now that really does look American!
- "While Margaret Beckett stayed in her Government flat at Admiralty House." - this is not a proper sentence in either British or American English!
For some reason Wikipedia will let me edit this Talk page but not the main article, or I'd have made a couple of these changes already. 86.136.255.33 02:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- Done. Can't believe it took nearly three years, but I don't see a problem in making the change92.236.151.82 (talk) 12:12, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Her Britannic Majesty etc. etc.
[edit]This reads like some sort of monarchy obsessive wrote it. It's just "Foreign Secretary" in the UK. The phrase "Britannic Majesty" is only used on the first page of our passports. Edited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.76.8.33 (talk) 02:25, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
