Units of measure
[edit]Howdy friends, I suggest that we update the units of measure for how energetic various field are, Currently, it's in kJ or kCal per mole, but would be more useful as joules or calories per GRAM, to account for the different densities of the various fuels. I did the math using density, molar weight, and the energy of combustion, and the reprocessed data comes out to as follows:
DEG - 22.7 kJ/mL
Ethanol - 22.28kJ/mL
Methanol - 17.94kJ/mL
Note, kJ/mL = kJ/cc, which I think will be a more accurate measurement of embodied energy. Let me know what you think.

Notice: Here's how I did the math, in case anybody needs citations:
Fuel Type | kJ per mole (heat of combustion) | grams per mole | 1mL = __ grams | 1mL = __ moles | moles per mL x kJ/mole = kJ/mL |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
DEG | 2155 | 106.12 | 1.118 | 0.01053 | 22.703 |
Ethanol | 1300 | 46.07 | 0.7896 | 0.01714 | 22.281 |
Methanol | 726 | 32.04 | 0.792 | 0.0247 | 17.946 |
Added density in case wiki users would prefer kJ/gram instead of kJ/mL, but chafing fuel is sold in containers of standardized size, not standardized mass, so I figured the energy/volume measurement would be more helpful than the energy/mass measurement.
