Merge?
[edit]I'm not sure if this should be merged with Intermediate bulk container. I'll leave that idea here. Legacypac (talk) 20:59, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
- It's possible, but I wouldn't recommend merging without a plan that outlines the redundancies. You're welcome to make a formal proposal if you wish. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 20:26, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
- I have tagged the pages for a proposed merger. The good material in Caged IBC tote can be the major section of Intermediate Bulk Container. There is not a need of two highly related articles. Pkgx (talk) 23:02, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- It makes sense to merge the pages, technically the page titled Intermediate bulk container should subsume this page Caged IBC tote. Please note that the term "tote" is commonly used to refer to Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) in certain industries, particularly in the U.S. and Canada. A tote is often considered a casual or colloquial term for an IBC, and many people use them interchangeably.
- However, "IBC" (Intermediate Bulk Container) is the more technical and formal term. It refers specifically to containers designed for transporting and storing bulk liquids or materials. IBC's can take on many shapes and sizes and are not necessarily the caged type that is referenced in this page. This is probably as they are the most common type of IBC. it is important to understand that the term IBC is used in regulations encompassing the carriage of (dangerous) cargo. It is inappropriate to use "tote" in this context as it is erroneous and informal. Dustyvinyl (talk) 13:56, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Merge: I believe that there is no need for separate articles, and so it should be merged with the target article, especially since the target is called by initialism (IBC) in the title. Further, I concur that a variety of containers are referred to as a "tote" which are not IBCs, and so the use of the word may be too informal. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 16:43, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
End of Discussion, decision to MERGE
Merging
[edit]There has been only positive feedback to merging into Intermediate Bulk Container. The decision is to merge. This topic is not my strength so I encourage one of the other editors to conduct the merger. If no action is taken, I will attempt it. Pkgx (talk) 20:24, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
