Preferred stock

[edit]

CHSCP is the stock symbol for a preferred stock issued by CHS, Inc. CHSCO is the stock symbol for another preferred stock issued by CHS, Inc. CHS itself has no stock symbol, because it is owned by its cooperative participants and not by stockholders. The CHSCP prospectus states: "As a cooperative, we are owned by farmers and ranchers and their local cooperatives". The prospectus also says "The preferred stock is ... non-voting except in certain limited circumstances." Thus the first sentence is wrong to say "CHS Inc. is a Fortune 100 business owned by United States agricultural cooperatives, farmers, ranchers and thousands of preferred stock holders ..." because like most preferred stockholders, CHSCP and CHSCO owners don't ordinarily vote, and thus can't be said to own the company. Also, the infobox is wrong to say that CHS, Inc. trades as CHSCP. CHSCP is one of the preferred stocks, not CHS, Inc. itself, which doesn't trade because it's a cooperative. 98.247.55.21 (talk) 06:45, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
