Stray Cats (strong inspiration)
[edit]am i the only one who have noticed the obvious inspiration? even the Stray Cats singer's accent is imitated by the BOOWY singer. Compare "Runaway Boys" live 3:52 from "Rumble In Brixton" 2004 (Stray Cats) and "B.Blue" live 4:11 from "Last Gigs" 1988 (BOOWY), this is... well striking! EnthusiastFRANCE 13:58, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
- listened to both...I don't see/hear any similiarities... 21st Cherry Boy 15:36, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- A lot of people sound like Brian Setzer. Likewise, Brian Setzer sounds like a lot of people. Also, Rockabilly is a popular style all around the world. It always has been. It's influenced a TON of music, and a ton of musicians. Right now, there's a thriving Rockabilly subculture thriving in Japan. Now as it was in Boøwy's heyday, and before it. Elements of rockabilly pervade many, many facets of music... especially in Japanese rock. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.53.188.25 (talk) 17:05, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- yeah, if anything, a lot of these japanese singers are trying to do ELVIS imitations, even if it ends up sounding closer to setzer.
- btw, everyone i knew (japanese, gaijin alike) thought their name was in homage to david bowie. if this is NOT the case (as the article states), i think it should be dismissed explicitly. i.e. "named after ... and NOT after ... as widely believed".
- altho, frankly, even if they were named ボーイ or 暴威 or w/e the japanese was, i still think they must have had david bowie in mind when choosing the english spelling for their name. even with flowery spelling, it seems unlikely they'd insert that "w" otherwise. 209.172.25.205 (talk) 10:39, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Work Needed
[edit]Currently, the body of the article ends abruptly in the late '80s, with the introduction giving more recent information. The two sections need to be integrated. CFLeon (talk) 23:19, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
