Pre-war career
[edit]As mentioned at WT:CRIC, there will be more information about this player in pre-war editions of Wisden if anyone can gain access to them. I'm 99% sure he played only for Gloucestershire in his 452 matches but it somehow seems unlikely that he didn't join an occasional XI in a one-off match somewhere along the way. He appears to have been at his best in the late 1930s so the war may have ruined his career. I haven't seen anything about his wartime service; he was 35 when it began. Nothing about his family, either. BoJó | talk UTC 13:20, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Well, it looks as if he never did play for anyone except Gloucestershire, minor matches apart. That could be a record. I discovered his wife's name and dates. He played in a few wartime matches which were against but not for actual service teams, so no idea yet what he did during the war. BoJó | talk UTC 15:46, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
