Appropriateness

You know, the more I look at this article, the worse it seems. At first, I thought it was ridiculous that a man like Polian would have the first half of his career left out. Fine, I guess it was just because the article was started by a well-meaning Colts fan who knew little else (and yet, knew more than me). But the more I go through it to correct style errors and bad grammar, the more I realize that this is not really an article on Polian, but on the Colts draft history. Naturally, the two are inextricably intertwined; I just have decided that this article needs more work than I'm able and willing to give. Next? Unschool 14:54, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

I have to agree with the above comment. As much as I like Bill Polian and am a Colts fan this article seems like an advertisement for him and does not represent a NPOV.

There's no question as to Polian's acumen-his achievements speak for themselves-but this article was locked in the closet when they were handing out doses of NPOV. Hushpuckena (talk) 16:28, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Article is a bit better now (2011) than the 2007 comments above suggest it was at that time. Nevertheless, there are still issues. One: in the text it says Polian was GM at Carolina 1994-1996, but in the chart at bottom it says 1994-1997. I think the former is correct. I do recall he spent a year (a season) between Carolina and Indy working for the NFL directly. That point is not reflected anywhere in this article.

The suggestion that he left Buffalo for reasons that only Wilson, Littman, and Polian will ever know is coy and not altogether true. There was significant coverage at the time in the Buffalo media about Polian's departure. The media suggested it was Polian's temper that created events that led to his departure. I believe there were rumors he left Carolina for similar reasons. All of this should be documentable--if someone is willing to do the legwork. —Dmittleman (talk • contribs) 15:07, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

The Bill Polian bio indicates that he played safety for NYU - if you go to the NYU football link in the bio, it says that NYU dropped football in 1953 - I'm sure that Polian did not play for NYU when he was 12-13 years old.David Birch (talk) 15:36, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

Polian and NYU

How can Bill Polian have played football at NYU when they dropped the program in 1953? Did he play as an 11 year old? You should double check that. Mnetta (talk) 14:50, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

@Mnetta: It was a club football team. This Buffalo News article mentions that his coach at NYU was Bob Windish, and a New York Times article corroborates that he was the coach of the "New York University football club" when Polian was there.
