Other sources, such as A.J. Barker's 1967 book The Neglected War (recently republished as The First Iraq War) and Charles Townshend's 2011 book, Desert Hell, The British Invasion of Mesopotamia both agree that the main part of the battle took place around the 19-20th, with occupation on the 21st and a formal ceremony on the 23rd.
