2004 Refresh
[edit]I find the terminology used in this section to be very confusing. For example, the following sentence: "exterior glass went from a "dotted" pattern to a cleaner one of "lines"."
What does this mean?? Davez621 10:47, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
This article needs updating--I will be glad to do it. To above poster: they are talking about the tint fram around the windows.--Jpr18 16:04, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Design
[edit]I think we should add the criticism about the design of the car. Some people think that it lost its masculine looks and some others say that it looks like Asian cars. Also, we can't skip the anti-Bangle people because they hate every model that Bangle's team designed. Deliogul 16:04, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- It's just the archetypical anti-BMW. Although, really, Bangle&Co. have recently simply mutilated the spirit of what used to be the German sports sedan brand. Even cars like the new 3-series lack the old feeling. Looking for a great car for about 40 grand, I've caught myself looking at used E46 M3s, rather than new 335s, even despite the fact that they are comparably fast and loaded. Like the American big three, BMW looks to be going down the road where its die-hard fans will be buying and restoring old icons and disregarding anything new to come off the assembly lines. Pity. However, for that same reason, criticism of Bangle hardly fits here, just like "it's nothing close to what they made in '69" doesn't belong on new Ford or GM models' pages. It's simply a given... 128.195.186.70 (talk) 10:52, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Adieu
New Pic
[edit]I have a high quality pic of an E70 (2008) 4.8 with the 20" wheels. Might be a good picture to update the infobox? Or just to add to the article. I'll leave that to someone else to decide since it is my picture and I don't want to seem self righteous. Here it is - feel free to use it. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3402/3210963115_1ce46f00f8_b.jpg Bikingshaun (talk) 03:14, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
I have uploaded the x5 picture to wikimedia commons. Any help placing it in the article would be appreciated. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wiki_edit_x5.jpg Bikingshaun (talk) 20:04, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

BMW X5is Chain Guide
[edit]I have a BMW X5is, 4.6 where the timing chain guide failed, and claimed the timing chain, VANOS camshaft adjusting system, and deposited raw aluminum pieces directly into the oil sump. Any one els have this problem???? 152,000 miles, Cost $8000 to repair. NO coverage or word from BMW. Car maintained flawlessly. Opening paragraph
[edit]Is the X5 based on the 5-Series like the X3 is based on the 3-Series? If so, perhaps that basic info should be in the opening, especially for the non-BMW adept.
From BMW X3:
- The BMW X3 is a compact crossover SUV marketed by the German automaker BMW, based on the BMW 3-Series automobile platform, and now in its second generation.

Merger proposal
[edit]I question why there are separate main articles for the E53 and E70. While I understand and fully agree with breaking up model LINES like "3-series" into separate articles per generation, the X5 is a single MODEL (like the M5 or M3) and as such, I believe that all of the info should be contained on a single page (also like the M5 and M3). Especially considering that there are only 2 generations at present, it seems like extra clutter to have them broken up. I propose a full content merger to incorporate those pages onto this one. 2020 Air suspension missing
[edit]There is no reference to air suspension in the rear axel but also not sure if standard on all models. Tech201805 (talk) 08:42, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
