Unreliable Source
[edit]This article relies mainly on Andrew Wheatcroft's work. Andrew Wheatcroft is not a scholar, he's a pop-history writer. His books can't be used as reliable sources. Chamboz (talk) 23:27, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
Definitely not a Habsburg Military Victory
[edit]Ottoman Empire captured a few key castles, and their march was halted at St. Gotthard. Unable to pursue the victory and recapture the lost castles, Habsburg Empire cannot be considered as victorious. If we have to decide a victor in the war, it can only be the Ottoman side. The battle at St. Gotthard was not a conclusive battle as the following source indicates: (In addition to Ottoman sources)

- The result in the infobox we cannot leave empty, anyway...what would be your proposal to be put there?(KIENGIR (talk) 13:04, 16 May 2020 (UTC))
- Well, what about removing the statements "Austria and allies military victory Ottoman diplomatic victory" and "Ottomans attack Vienna in 1683"? Peace of Vasvar would be enough for now. Noyan Sipahi (talk) 19:11, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Ok, I noticed now, so shall it be.(KIENGIR (talk) 16:53, 28 October 2020 (UTC))

[edit]Discussion with a sockpuppet |

The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it. |
Your recent edits don't make sense. First, you removed sourced content citing NPOV, and when reverted, you changed the result from "Ottoman victory" to "Austria and allies military victory" before removing the source that supports the Ottoman victory claiming that it was added by a sockpuppet.
I will ping FDW777 who's familiar with the notorious banned user who keeps targetting this article. M.Bitton (talk) 23:21, 16 March 2021 (UTC) If you look at the edit history the source was added by user Johnny123466 which is a sockpuppet account. Yh I apologise for my edit inconsistencies but the page did previously at one point state on “Austria military victory and Ottoman diplomatic victory” although I think peace of Vasar should be listed as the result because it’s more neutral. Wowlebureh (talk) 23:26, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Both versions of my edits where pretty neutral because they didn’t claim an all out victory for either side. Wowlebureh (talk) 23:34, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

Changed result
[edit]I have removed the unverifiable source:
- Walter Hummelberger: Die Türkenkriege und Prinz Eugen. In: Herbert St. Fürlinger (Hrsg.): Unser Heer. 300 Jahre österreichisches Soldatentum in Krieg und Frieden. Wien/München/Zürich 1963, S. 52
and added:
- The Last Muslim Conquest: The Ottoman Empire and Its Wars in Europe
- Austria's Wars of Emergence, 1683-1797
neither of which mention a victor. Instead both mention Habsburg territorial loss and the Peace of Vasvár. To avoid WP:OR and WP:SYN, I have removed "Ottoman victory" from the inbox which was unsourced, and left what the sources state. --Kansas Bear (talk) 15:55, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
107.117.172.55 is my edit. Not sure why I was logged out. Meh. --Kansas Bear (talk) 15:53, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Kansas Bear: the claimed Walter Hummelberger reference was added by a Derbyboy2890 sockpuppet here. As they are a self-confessed fabricator of references any edit they've ever made should be reverted, including but not limited to their current IP 46.102.200.93 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log). - Good to know! Thanks FDW777! --Kansas Bear (talk) 16:40, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
