Arianna Pintus

[edit]

Several anonymous editors have recently tried to change a sentence in the lead from

The byssus has been used in Sardinia to weave sea silk, as a replacement for the byssus of critically endangered Pinna nobilis.

to

The byssus has been used in Sardinia by Arianna Pintus to weave sea silk, as a replacement for the byssus of critically endangered Pinna nobilis.

This change implies that Pintus is the sole artist engaged in this practice, whereas the cited source notes that this is a common practice among many artists in Sardinia. If Pintus were a notable artist, we might allow that she be mentioned as among those practicing this art form, but as she does not yet have her own Wikipedia page, such a mention seems superfluous. The article cited mentions only Pintus, but does not claim she is exclusive in this practice, only that she is the artist on whom they focused. We would need a more reliable source for this claim, and even then, unless Pintus is already notable, mentioning her here seems like little more than attempted promotion.
