This article was initially proposed in 2010 prior to launch of the Journal. It was deleted as the Journal had not yet been published. A year later it was recreated after two issues had been published. A discussion with Jayjg led to acceptance of its inclusion.

I note that the Journal falls into WP:WikiProject Academic Journals, an effort to expand Wikipedia’s coverage of academic journals.

With regard to WP:GNG and WP:NJournals, the publication of the first regional journal of international law for Asia is regarded by many as a “historic purpose”. Evidence in third party publications includes: Boris N. Mamlyuk & Ugo Mattei , “Comparative International Law”, Brooklyn Journal of International Law, 2011, vol. 36, p. 385 at p. 441 (retrieved through Lexis): “To make the abstract more concrete, a perfect example of an institutional project currently afoot that is in dire need of the type of CIL (Comparative International Law) analysis envisioned here is the work of the Asian Society of International Law, and its most recent project, the Asian Journal of International Law (‘Asian Journal’). More specifically, what is the historical significance of the publication of the first issue of the new publication in January 2011? Perhaps it exemplifies the assertion of Asia overcoming the West in economic and even intellectual terms? Is there a commonality of political outlooks among the editors? Does this move signify a new theoretical posture or the emergence of a new network, coalition, or cluster of scholars with a shared scholarly agenda? Why is the journal being published by Cambridge University Press, and why is it limited to English language contributions, as a practical convenience—‘rather than political endorsement’—as the editors assert, or perhaps to ensure the highest levels of scholarship through the ‘double-blind peer-review’ process?” (notes omitted)

In addition, the launch was noted in a series of online forums around the world, including Blog do NEI (Portuguese), Don Anton’s digest of international law, Twelve Tables (Thai).

Let me know if additional information is required? Best wishes, Tempwikisc (talk) 04:10, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
