Birthdate

[edit]

Allmusic.com has his birthdate as 1952. Not sure where they got that information, though, so I'm not changing anything yet. Jmcnally 04:19, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

[edit]

Added "First Thought Best Thought" collection released in 2006 by Audika records. Funks 16:45, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

plagiarism

[edit]

All of the content on this page was plagiarized from Russell's Discogs.com bio (http://www.discogs.com/artist/Arthur+Russell) so I deleted it.P4k 08:40, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure? Discogs, like Wikipedia, is based on user-submitted content; I find it equally as plausible that they copied from us. Moreover, the content in question was added to Wikipedia by User:CacHA, who according to his userpage is qualified in this area and would therefore have the capacity to write it himself. I'm sorry, I forgot that discogs content was user-submitted too. You're completely right. I've reverted the article. P4k 09:21, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

I stuck a bunch of links to online articles and quotes at the bottom of this page in my userspace, although they aren't organized at all. Apparently David Toop wrote an article about him for The Wire in 2003, but I don't have access to that.--P4k 20:36, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Arthur Russell (musician)/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

I rated this article as a Stub because, well, it's one sentence plus a discography and some links. P4k 08:44, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sexuality

[edit]

He had sexual relationships with men and women throughout his life, and should be referred to as a bisexual man. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:43:0:108E:A465:AB69:CC5A:EC46 (talk) 00:51, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Legacy and Influence

[edit]

Hello all, I am new to Wikipedia and was hoping to make an addition to this article. I noticed the new biography on him entitled Travels Over Feeling: Arthur Russell, a Life by Richard King has not yet been mentioned and was hoping to add a sentence to the end of Legacy and Influence on it. I have included the sentence I was thinking of adding below and just wanted to make sure that was ok.

Richard King, a music journalist, compiled a collection of Russell's interviews, documents, and photos in a biography Travels Over Feeling: Arthur Russell, a Life, published in 2024.

Thanks for your help! Chickenscratch1 (talk) 04:46, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
