Suggestions to improve the article
[edit]- After the Russia-Norway Agreement, I'm not sure that the lead section should depict the area in the Barents Sea as claim - at least Norway and Russia fully agreed how they'll divide and incorporate the territories.
- There is no mention of the nuclear icebreaker fleet of Russia in the article, in particular the largest nuclear icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy, Yamal and the arctic tourism (see also Barneo). There is also the Perspective Nuclear Icebreaker project (watch [1]).
- I'd say that the section on military might be expanded. More info should be given on Murmansk and Severodvinsk (and Sevmash).
- The 20th century history of exploring the Arctic, in particular the Northern Sea Route, should be added. [2]
- The recent international commercial passings of the NSR should be mentioned [3] as well as the development plans [4] [5].
- Umka, the domed city to be built on Kotelny Island: [6]
- The main ports along the NSR, such as Dikson, Tiksi, and Pevek should be mentioned.
- Russia plans to create the Trans-Arctic Cable System [7].
- Russia plans to become the first country to start commercial offshore oil drilling in the Arctic at Prirazlomnaya platform in 2012.
- The recent moves to complete the Salekhard–Igarka Railway and the project to build the TKM-World Link should be mentioned. GreyHood Talk 12:39, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

That would be a technical flaw in the imagery.Moryak (talk) 21:57, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
That was my first thought although it is very unusual, the only thing I can think of is that another satellite got in the way! Moon Oracle (talk) 11:37, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
