Derivation
[edit]In a 4 January edit Archaeaoris you added "Some people erroneously think that it comes from ἀπότροπος". Since ἁπότροπος is the derivation mentioned in the Encyclopaedia Judaica article[1] and the Encyclopedia of Greek Language and Linguistics Online, accessed via the Wikipedia Library, suggests both "( apotropos ‘manager’ < Heb. apotropos אפוטרופוס ‘legal guardian’ < επίτροπος/απότροπος )"[2] it would be useful if you could add a citation indicating who has said it's erroneous. Has there been discussion on its derivation in journals and/or books? Mcljlm (talk) 23:10, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
