Discography
[edit]Is a complete discography (and it's not complete) really needed? You don't normally see it on other artist's entries. Normally this information would go into separate entries relating directly to the album.
I agree it's excessive, usually complete discographys with track listings are spun off into a seperate page leaving just a list of releases on a musical artists entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.211.15.111 (talk) 17:33, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Aphro3.jpg
[edit]Image:Aphro3.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I screwed up somehow inserting a source for his given name (from Yahoo Music). I tried to add a reference list for this, but I just can't get it right. Someone fix this, please?

Removed speedy deletion tag
[edit]I added a link to his allmusic bio, which is non-trivial and in particular describes him as "one of the reigning kings of jump-up style jungle". To me, this indicates that there's at least a case to be made for his notability and so isn't the typical speedy deletion type of artist page.
There's also this from the BBC ("commonly referred to as the Godfather of jungle"), this section in a book on drum n' bass ("the man who put the bass in drum n' bass", "Jungle's greatest populist"), this profile in Spin dubbing him "British jungle's Lord of the Dance". They're not in the article, but they do show he's at the least not a speedy. Holly25 (talk) 21:58, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I am the artist. Please contact me as I am looking for somwone to help get this page correct. There are loads of misplace facts about me written on this page, and my discography is hopelessly small and misses out on countless productions.
I am available by email by contacting me on my facebook page djaphrodite, or we could arrange an interview so that my wiki page is correct. I am faced with the facts of this page countless times and have spent countless hours correcting people around the world when prese releases and interviewers' first googling of me gets this wikipedia info and regurgitates it.
My youtube page gets the basics correct. A recent BIO has many mroe facts, and my discogs pages have all the releases.

DJ Aphrodite or Just Aphrodite is at the head of Aphrodite Recordings. Popularly known as one of the godfathers of Drum&Bass.
{{
Alongside and with DJ Micky Finn is also part of Urban Takeover. Also known as A Zone, DJ Aphro, Amazon II, Amazon 2 (initially with Tony B), Amix and Aladdin (initially with QED) is a UK jungle / drum and bass DJ/producer. One of the founding members of the Drum and Bass scene. he largely contributed to and influenced the genre's current styles, basslines, drums and techniques. The name DJ Aphrodite was inspired by an Acid House club night he co-ran in 1988 called 'Aphrodite'. His debut album was the self-titled Aphrodite album released by Aphrodite Recordings then signed and re-released on V2 Recordings, The follow-ups was Aftershock which was again released under V2 Recordings on 24 June 2002, then Break In Reality was released in the USA only in 2008. The many DJ-Mix albums include Urban Jungle, Urban Junglist, Overdrive, Takeover Bid.
In 2002, after Gavin's first solo Album gaining wide critical acclaim throughout the Dance Music scene with tracks like 'Style From The Dark Side' reaching number 1 in the Holland dance chart, his second solo album, Aftershock by Aphrodite reached number 17 in the Billboard Dance Album chart with singles 'See Thru It' and 'All Over Me' reached numbers 68 and 67 in the National UK Music chart. Aftershock also had various tracks play listed on national and citywide FM stations, for example 'Ganja Man' on Radio Records FM in Moscow, BBC radio 1 play listed 'All Over Me' and 'See Thru It' in the UK, Triple J in
Australia, Capital Radio in London and Studio FM in Brussels. His third album, Break In Reality was released in 2008 in the USA only to wide critical acclaim. There has been DJ mix albums that also received wide acclaim for Gavin King as DJ Aphrodite. 'Urban Jungle', 'Urban Junglist' and 'Overdrive' all gained positions in the Dance or Drum and Bass Compilation charts. Gavin King has worked with, co-produced and remixed many well know artists such as NWA, The Luniz, Aaliyah, Ice Cube, Tribe Called quest, Fat Boy Slim, Yazz, Nine Inch Nails, Black Street, Big Daddy Kane, Schooly D and Beverly Knight. He has had his music in Hollywood movies including his Jungle Brothers - Jungle Brother remix being in 'Blue Streak' and 'Senseless', his solo artist tracks 'Listen To The Rythmn' in Sylvester Stallone's 'Driven' and the now classic 'Human Traffic' featured his tracks 'Stalker' and 'King Of The Beats'
Gavin has released many singles and the most recent, 'Two Bass', 'Acid To The Sound' and 'Beautiful Bass' gained charting success in the 2015 Drum and Bass charts. Gavin's most successful music has become 'classic' and his status has become that of a legend and originator of the Drum and Bass music genre. Especially and continually during the last 10 years, Gavin King has extensively toured all over North America and the rest of the world, doing performances in around 30 US states, nearly all of Europe, South East Asia, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, South America and South Africa. He is continually asked to DJ at large and small events and has performed at internationally renowned festivals and venues such as Red Rocks in Colorado, Burning Man, Electric Daisy Carnival, Miami Dance Event, Glastonbury, Shambala, Reading, Boomtown Fair, Pukkelpop, Fusion, Kazantip, SonneMondeStern and Creamfields. He has over 125,000 Facebook followers and his music has an extensive fan base in the USA and rest of the world. I have had the pleasure of touring to the same festivals as Gavin King aka DJ Aphrodite and can testify that his DJ sets are gaining the same recognition as his music productions. Gavaphro (talk) 10:56, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Gavaphro. It would be more helpful if you listed specifically what facts in the article are incorrect, and we will fix them as soon as possible. However, Wikipedia articles are supposed to be a summary of information, so we normally don't include every song an artist has written and what they have charted in the body paragraphs of an article, only the more significant ones. The complete set of albums and singles released may be included in the article, but is usually presented separately as a list or a table. Additionally, sentences like "his status has become that of a legend and originator of the Drum and Bass music genre" are considered promotional, and must be rewritten from a neutral point of view to be included in the article. Hope that helps. Thanks, Altamel (talk) 23:27, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
