Orphaned references in Anne-Marie (singer)
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Anne-Marie (singer)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Then
[edit]I don’t think “Then” was a single. It wasn’t sent to any radio stations and it wasn’t promoted, and it was a gift for the fans because of Christmas. I think is just a promotional single. SmxkeAndMirrors (talk) 14:25, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

5G theory
[edit]Hello everyone, I just wanted to say that the article about 5G theory isn't true. You can go and look at Anne-Marie's twitter and she has never told anything like that. She tweeted about 5G, but there wasn't anything about that coronavirus is caused by 5G. Then one person tweeted that she said that, even when she didn't. Next someone wrote article about this, but I guess that person hasn't looked if this tweet has true information. So please remove it, because that's not true. Use of primary source for chart listing
[edit]There's a tag indicating that a primary source shouldn't be used for a chart listing, but I don't think that's against the policy? "A primary source may be used on Wikipedia only to make straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the primary source but without further, specialized knowledge" BenjaminChadwick (talk) 14:49, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
You Deserve Better - book
[edit]Anne-Marie has released a book called "You Deserve Better". I think it should be also written in her page under the section of Filmography as a different section. I am not really experienced on writting on pages of artists a book they have published and in general that kind of format, especially when it is a singme book, so if someone else could write it for me it would be really helpful. Year of birth
[edit]Some time ago, several people were changing her year of birth, which eventually results in the page being protected. I've done a little research on the subject over the past few weeks, and there is indeed some information that suggests she was born in 1990, not 1991 (even some non-english Wikipedias use both years).
It all comes down to the fact that she was 12 years old when she won medals at the karate championships in 2002.
The Echo Essex published an article on 24 December 2002 that says "The first Tokon Kai gold came from young Anne-Marie Nicholson, 12, who enjoyed individual glory."[1]
The Times article from 29 July 2023 says "Aged nine, she threw herself into karate - so much so that in 2002 when she was 12, she won gold at the UK championships and double gold at the World Championships."[2]
In the first video of her karate series, she said that she started doing karate at the age of 9 and competed at her first world championships 3 years later, and won double gold. A bit later she said it was in Las Vegas when she was twelve.[3] As we know from other sources, the championships were held in 2002. Here are some more sources (not related to Anne-Marie) that confirm it as well.[4][5][6]
I will add more sources of her confirming her age when she won double gold in a few minutes (main page).
I couldn't find any article that says she was born in 1990, but this little interview with Daily Mail from 2015 says she was 25 at the time[7] (not included as it's Daily Mail), the Gulf Times article from February 2017 gives her age as 26[8] (she was born on 7 April, so if she was 26 in February 2017, she must have been born in 1990).
Another thing that points out she was born in 1990 is the Company House website. It says she was born in April 1990[9] but I won't include it as I'm not sure if it's allowed on Wikipedia (let me know if I'm wrong and we can use it). I'm sure her birth certificate would give the same year of birth but I didn't have time to look it up and it's also a primary source.
Regarding the year, I think we should stick with 1991 as it's used in lots of reliable magazines, newspapers, interviews, etc, but I believe the note that I will add should stay there too (I saw such a note used on multiple articles, including Mariah Carey's). Hopefully this will end all the editing wars (once the protection expires). Maybe one day someone will find something else that might change our point of view, but for now I think we don't have any secondary sources that confirm it (what about the Companies House though?). Let me know what you think. Goldlinexy (talk) 20:12, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
- I dug even deeper and found even more interesting things.
- As expected, the National Archives also confirms her birth year as 1990.[10]
- Les Misérables
- In the book "You Deserve Better: An Imperfect Guide To Finding Your Own Happiness", Anne-Marie states that her first appearance in the musical Les Misérables was when she was 7 years old. In July 1997, she played the Little Cosette in Palace Theatre London.[11][12] Again, everything adds up. We can read in her book that she auditioned for Les Misérables when she was six years old - Little Eponine - and got the role. Performed for the first time a day after her seventh birthday on London's West End Stage. She got a new role - Little Cosette - when she was "a little bit older", and July is 3 months after her birthday which is exactly "a little bit older".[13] So what we get is that she was part of the Les Misérables musical from the age of 7 (her birthday is on 7 April and her first performance was on 8 April according to the book) and was already performing in 1997 (the example above: Palace Theatre London, July 1997).
- 1990 tattoo
- Anne-Marie has 1990 tattooed on her body. She revealed that in the interview with Capital South Coast in January 2017.[14] It's written upside down so it looks like "obby" to other people. A tattoo of her birth year.[15] Also confirmed by her friend.[16]
- Birthday video
- In this birthday video posted by her fans in April 2016, they wished her a happy 26th birthday.[17] The date at the beginning is 1990. Obviously it's a fan video but how many people knew who she was in early 2016? They had to find that year of birth somewhere. What's more, Anne-Marie reposted it on Twitter (now X) and added a comment, which mean she acknowledged it.[18] Other old tweets/posts show that some fans wished her a happy 26th birthday in 2016/that she was born in 1990.[19][20] I add this section more as a fun fact rather than a reliable source (my point still stands though).
- Conclusion
- Along with the Daily Mail interview she did in 2015 which says she was 25, and Gulf Times interview from February 2017 which says she was 26 (her birthday is in April so if she was 26 in February, she must have been 27 in April), there are numerous sources that prove she was born in 1990 (especially the 2002 article) and also that she was possibly going by her real age before her career took off, which we can see in the old fans tweets/posts. We know celebrities, especially female ones, often lie about their age. Look up Mariah Carey, Paloma Faith etc., who claimed to be younger than they actually were and their year of birth was not changed on Wikipedia and other websites until their birth certificates were published :)
- The 1991 doesn't add up with the information we can find online and even she herself gets lost in the lies - the best example is that she confirmed she was 12 in 2002 but at the same time she claims to have been born in 1991. Make it make sense. If we look at both dates then 1990 is much more reliable/sourced as we have the 2002 article and certificate; 1991 on the other hand is what she or her label said once and all the magazines/newspapers have been using it without veryfing it since then. - Anne-Marie was born in 1990. Her sister who is 4 years older[21] has posted multiple times about her age. In 2016 her sister was 30 years old,[22] in 2017 she was 31.[23] She posted about it on her social media and anyone can find it. So according to the posts her sister was born in 1986 (Wikipedia:CALC 2016-30=1986 and 2017-31=1986). Anne-Marie is 4 years younger which means she was born in 1990. Adding the sources you posted it's a clear situation. In my opinion, the 2002 source is enough to say that she was born in 1990 but the fact there is more is confirming it even further. I will change the date per Wikipedia:CALC (2002-12=1990 and other sources that were posted and are also applicable) and her confirming she was 12 in 2002. If someone wants to they can come here and discuss. Ilymusic (talk) 14:27, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

Poor English in the article
[edit]"She has attained various charting singles" - presumably this means "she has released a number of singles that reached the charts" or something similar? 2A02:C7C:37D6:C100:885E:F169:EE60:F3F7 (talk) 21:56, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- It sounds about right to me. Similar sentances can sometimes be found in articles e.g "Gaga has now attained No. 1 singles in three different decades". If you want to, you can try to change it though. Ilymusic (talk) 18:12, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
