Revival and eventual disbandment
[edit]@Psychologist Guy Hey, do you have any other sources for the 1910 revival and for what happened to the organisation later? Throughthemind (talk) 12:05, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Many thanks for creating this article. The Animals' Friend Society was still operating up until around 1960. In the late 1950s they allied themselves with Farmers Guardian newspaper. The National Council for Animals' Welfare disbanded in 1983 [1]. Unfortunately there is no good WP:RS documenting some of this. There are only 2 historians in the world that have knowledge about the Animals' Friend Society beyond 1940. Most historians have covered the Lewis Gompertz older organization but they missed the revival. I will drop you an email. Psychologist Guy (talk) 17:49, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- In 1930 the The Animals' Friend magazine was taken over by the National Council for Animals' Welfare. Jessy Wade talks about it, see pages 196-197 [2] Psychologist Guy (talk) 23:46, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
Humanitarian League against Cruel Sports
[edit]I can't find any confirmation that the "Humanitarian League against Cruel Sports" existed. There are no newspaper articles, journals or historical books that mention such and organization. I suspect that they confused the Humanitarian League with the League Against Cruel Sports. The Humanitarian League had a sports division that focused on cruel sports. It may have been referring to this. Psychologist Guy (talk) 02:24, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
