[edit]I have made a start on this article will add more later or feel free yourself.Tristan benedict 20:58, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Expansion
[edit]I just expanded the article substantially, adding in details and inserting a section on diplomacy. It would be nice to have more information on the Persian side, but little information is available in English. There were some judgment calls on what details are pertinent, so feel free to overrule me if you think that I've included something irrelevant or excluded something essential. Merger Proposal
[edit]This article has been brought into the ambit of Indian Military History project as the majority of the troops and existing units are Indian.
I have proposed merger of the article Persia (1855-56) (Battle honour) as it describes the same article. However, I have details very deep in Sapper history and this article gives a very broad brush. There were four battle-honours given for this and fighting took place in two different areas. In urget need of being brought to a satisfactory level. AshLin (talk) 05:47, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Persia 1856-57 (Battle honour) should be merged to Anglo-Persian War. --Wayiran (talk) 21:13, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Col James Stopford, killed at Reshire December 9th 1856
[edit]There is a plaque in Lichfield Cathedral. Most other plaques are to the Staffordshire Regiment. Is it known what he was commanding? JRPG (talk) 15:41, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Anglo-Persian War → Anglo-Persian War of 1856–1857 – Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran, Persian Campaign and more conflicts are also considered "Anglo-Persian War". Aryzad (talk) 08:32, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose, at least on grounds offered. I've never heard of those conflicts being called "Anglo-Persian War" or variants, especially the Persian Campaign of WWI where the Persians & English were allies. Do you have any reliable sources that refer to those other conflicts as "Anglo-Persian War"? SnowFire (talk) 18:18, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
- It is unlikly to find a source that calls Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran an Anglo-Persian War; But the 1856–1857 conflict wasn't the only war between the two countries and the other wars were "Anglo-Persian War" anyway. However, "Anglo-Persian War of 1856–1857" is used by some academic sources. Aryzad (talk) 21:45, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. The others aren't known as the Anglo-Persian War. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:51, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
