Foreign national?
[edit]Is he a foreign national? http://www.theyworkforyou.com/debate/?id=2009-07-09a.1136.7 – Kaihsu (talk) 11:48, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Jumping through hoops
[edit]this article is not ready to be split up into sections. Political articles get ruined as people attempt to get their side in. Its a simple story and the wheels are not going to drop off, you would expect him to get the handle spin doctor. (Off2riorob (talk) 15:12, 10 July 2009 (UTC))
Photo
[edit]Has anone got a photo, there is one on flickr but i'm unsure as to the copyright and it would need croping. Ill put a like in a bit (Off2riorob (talk) 15:53, 10 July 2009 (UTC))
this one is andy... [[1]] (Off2riorob (talk) 15:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC))
this licence [[2]] (Off2riorob (talk) 15:58, 10 July 2009 (UTC))
- That licence is not allowed for Wikipedia unfortunately. See here for more info.--Mas 18 dl (talk) 16:01, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, I had a feeling it wasn't, it is a bit free but not free enough. I'll have another look at that flickr images/commons link later. Still looking if anyone has one or knows where one is. (Off2riorob (talk) 16:25, 12 July 2009 (UTC))
What's Coulson's job?
[edit]The lead paragraph to this article says that Andy Coulson "is currently Director of Communications & Planning for the Conservative Party" but the last section seems to imply that sometime in 2010 that changed and he is now a "special adviser to UK Government". Is he an employee of the Conservative Party or of the UK Government? Or both? Is he paid by the tax payer or from Party funds? I think this could be made a bit clearer. 80.176.88.21 (talk) 16:39, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- He is presently paid as I understand with public funds as a goverment advisor. Off2riorob (talk) 16:43, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Right... looks like he quit his job with the Conservative Party in June 2010. I'm not sure what his 'official' job title is now. 80.176.88.21 (talk) 17:10, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- He is presently being quoted on the BBC as David Camerons communications director Off2riorob (talk) 17:13, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

I split this into two sections. He was communications director for the Conservative Party until they formed the government, then held the same title as a special advisor to the Prime Minister (a temporary civil service position). Some cleanup is probably still needed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NorthernRaven (talk • contribs) 04:41, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Resignation
[edit]Andy Coulson has resigned, on the TV news, more to follow.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 11:43, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Why is that then? Off2riorob (talk) 12:14, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Still breaking news, according to the BBC News commentators, he felt that the coverage of the News of the World phone hacking affair had become a distraction.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 12:18, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks Ian for the breaking news, I am up to speed now, regards. Off2riorob (talk) 13:16, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Elbrus
[edit]Coulson started a consultancy, Elbrus, after leaving Downing Street. The following should probably be added, perhaps if a second source can be found for the termination of his One Young World work:
Elbrus Consultants
[edit]After leaving government, Coulson set up a PR consultancy firm, Elbrus Consultants, with his wife Eloise. His first client was One Young World, a global forum for young leaders whose co-founder, Kate Robertson, had worked with Coulson previously.[1] [2] Coulson was let go in July 2011 after his arrest.[3] NorthernRaven (talk) 05:19, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
It's probably going to happen sooner or later, so do we branch off a separate article, HM Advocate v Coulson? PatGallacher (talk) 14:40, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Death
[edit]I'm pretty sure Andy died last year: [3] I would also like to note that the obituary shows a different birth date than the article does. --Winged Brick (talk) 23:14, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- Clearly the "wrong" Andy Coulson - as the subject of this article was "hired as a PR adviser for The Telegraph" in March 2017 - as seen here - which would have been difficult, even for a PR man, if he had died on February 7, 2016 as you are trying to make out - Arjayay (talk) 12:40, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
- There are other references to his work post February 2016 in the "Private consultancy" section of the article - Arjayay (talk) 12:47, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
In popular culture
[edit]Coulson was a main character in the 2016 The Comic Strip Presents... episode Redtop https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5338066 I'd edit the page myself but I don't really know what I'm doing here and have less than zero interest in learning. Here's the episode currently hosted on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlkD6dj_0pA Quite funny but its creators are left-wing and thus the anti-Communist Wikipedia Nazis have little interest in it beyond suppressing it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Comic_Strip_Presents..._episodes — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.209.87.181 (talk) 19:34, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- This has problems with WP:POPCULTURE because IMDb isn't an ideal source. Simply listing appearances does not establish notability. There would need to be reliable secondary sources mentioning this.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 21:25, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
