He cannot have been "killed in action fighting for the French" in World War I as stated, in December of 1918, because hostilities on French soil ceased under the Armistice of 11 November 1918. It is more likely he either died through causes arising (eg wounds) before the Armistice or in the Spanish flu pandemic which killed many servicemen not yet demobilised. If I can think of how to rephrase the sentence to reflect the events I would do so. I also doubt the relevance of the picture of a war memorial including the name Marie (sic) Corvington unless it could be proved he was of the same family. His French wikipedia article states he died of an illness contracted during hostilities while serving as an army doctor - which would make the description of "fighting" inapplicable as medical officers were generally non-combatants and carried no weapons.
