Candidate 1Alpha Centauri Ab – Unambigous name: "Candidate 1" could refer to other planetary systems with multiple planet candidates. 21 Andromedae (talk) 13:17, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Move Article was likely not created as α Cen Ab because the Alpha Centauri article most would follow to get here currently contains the sentence "If this candidate is confirmed, the temporary name C1 will most likely be replaced with the scientific designation Alpha Centauri Ab" however the exact claim there, that C1 is the current name, is not actually supported by the citation (if this planet is confirmed, and especially if it is closer to Saturn's size than Neptune's, there might be a popular push to call it Polyphemus given that that is what the Fictional universe of Avatar calls the habitable zone gas giant orbiting α Cen A). In any case, we've got a whole article for Alpha Centauri Bb which is really not even a candidate (anymore) as it is almost proven to be non-existent so surely we can have this article titled α Cen Ab as proposed.--Brian Dell (talk) 02:11, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
