Fair use rationale for Image:Korn aib.JPG

Image:Korn aib.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Unsourced genre

@Binksternet: I am curious as to why you continue to restore unsourced material to this article, when a better source has been provided. Granted, the source does not describe this song in particular, but it is considerably more appropriate than material that has no source at all.

You have failed to provide any reason or source that deems "Alternative rock" is more accurate than the genres I provided, other than your own opinion on the matter.

The genre field will be blanked until we can reach an agreement on what constitutes a suitable genre. If you decide not to discuss this issue, then I will restore my changes. If you continue to revert me, then I will have no choice but to report you to the administrator's noticeboard for disruptive behavior.

You made the statement "Absent anything stating otherwise, the genre should default to the band's genre" which is not how Wikipedia works (see the hard policy of WP:Verifiability, for starters.) Genres of songs come from sources discussing the song's genre. They are not inferred from album or band genres. Binksternet (talk) 05:04, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

@Binksternet: "They are not inferred from album or band genres." That is wrong. When some reviewer describes some album generally as 'pop' (for example), it is implied that each song on that album falls under the same general category. Likewise, when a band is generally described as producing 'nu-metal' music, it is implied that each song they produce falls under the same general category. This is known as generalization.

So, it follows that it is not incorrect to describe this particular song (in a broad sense) as 'nu-metal', when both the album and the band have been described as such. Was this your only concern?

I agree that a source that describes this song's genre would have greater weight (I was unable to find such a source, perhaps you will have more luck), but this does not mean a source that describes the album's or band's genre has no weight at all. 105.0.0.33 (talk) 15:12, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

No, not at all. An album can be described as pop but contain a variety of song genres.

The way we've been doing it for many years here may be seen at WP:EXPLICITGENRES. Genres must be explicitly stated. Artist genres come from sources discussing the artist. Album genres come from sources discussing the album. Song genres come from sources discussing the song. None of these are imputed or implied (see WP:SYNTH).

Only a few very generic genres can be considered so obvious that they don't need a cite, for instance Christmas music or rock music or hip hop music. Binksternet (talk) 21:14, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
