Does anyone know who this person is?! They added a person who doesn't exist and I had to change it. The Earl DID NOT have a son named Thomas. They then either disappeared, deleted their profile, or blocked people from contacting them because their name is red. I have two sources:

  • G.E. Cokayne; with Vicary Gibbs, H.A. Doubleday, Geoffrey H. White, Duncan Warrand and Lord Howard de Walden, editors, The Complete Peerage of England, Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain and the United Kingdom, Extant, Extinct or Dormant, new ed., 13 volumes in 14 (1910-1959; reprint in 6 volumes, Gloucester, U.K.: Alan Sutton Publishing, 2000), volume II, page 52
  • Charles Mosley, editor, Burke's Peerage, Baronetage & Knightage, 107th edition, 3 volumes (Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A.: Burke's Peerage (Genealogical Books) Ltd, 2003), volume 1, page 1348.

Is there a way to block this person from re-posting? Meg E. McGath (talk) 21:19, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

These users, I believe are the same people. Have now changed the information on here at least 3 times now. The information is incorrect. There are more than 7 sources online that prove that the information she keeps insisting is correct is NOT. I would like her to either be blocked from editing this page or a lock be put on this page after the correct information be states which is that the Earl had 3 children. The only reason she is doing this is because we got into a discussion on another board where I called her out with these sources and even make a comment that wiki says there are only 3 children and no Thomas. She will not relent on changing this every time I change it back to the correct information. I have checked online and spent days looking for this supposed person and he is not a son of this person. I have posted creditable sources which are online to look at and she tried to take down a source that I used to show there were only 3 children.

Thomas Capel did arrive in America in about 1720 from Essex, England. He was born in 1705 and there are records on Ancestry showing him as the son of the Earl and Lady Bentinck. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.112.106.154 (talk) 02:28, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

National Dictionary's Entry for Sir Thomas Capell

[edit]

I looked in Dictionary of National Biography, Volumes 1-20, 22 - this is what I found
Might I add that this was on ancestry.com which is NOT a reliable source for information.
Sir Thomas Bladen Capell. SON OF THE 4th EARL OF ESSEX. NOT the 2nd! He died without issue!
Vice-Admiral Hon. Sir Thomas Bladen Capel was born on 25 August 1776. He was the son of William Anne Capel, 4th Earl of Essex and Harriet Bladen. He married Harriet Catherine Smyth on 10 May 1816. He died on 4 March 1853 at age 76, without issue.
