Proposed merge of Arthur Wilmott into Alfred James Wilmott

[edit]

This was pointed out in the Discord by Samoasambia; these articles are clearly the same guy and they both have information the other one doesn't, but it's unclear what the common name is here. Thanks, Charlotte (Queen of Heartstalk) 20:06, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Which museum?

[edit]

As part of the merge, I noted that the sources linked him to different museums: either the Natural History Museum, London or the British Museum. I checked the Time obituary, and it has "British Museum (Natural History)". Having checked the Natural History Museum, London history, I note that what is now the Natural History Museum, London was then a department of the British Museum, despite having its own building. Formal separation didn't take place until 1963. So, I think that's it's better for readers to use the Natural History Museum, London link, given that this is what the "British Museum (Natural History)" became. Happy for others to make amendments in the text to clarify this further if they think that this is necessary.
