Suggestions:-
"He was an allrounder: a lower order hard hitting left handed batsman, and an outstanding left-arm fast-medium opening bowler" - the semi-colon seems out-of-place, and batsman, bowler, fast-medium etc. could do with links (given this is the lead).- Yup. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:55, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- On second reading, the semi-colon isn't too bad. 03:05, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yup. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:55, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
He was considered along Wasim Akram as the two greatest left arm fast bowlers in history - two references would be good, given the nature of the statement.- Added a book. Will look up page number wehn I get to a library.
- Yep, that's fine. 03:05, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Is it worth splitting up the lead into two paragraphs?- Too short imho. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:55, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Try and change one of the "he"/"his" in the lead (there's three or four in a row) to his last name.Link Central Coast."managed match figures of only 2/86" - the "only" is a little out-of-place and redundant.Should the graph be right-aligned?- Normally I go L-R-L-R, so that's how it is usually.
- Hrm, OK. Daniel 03:05, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Normally I go L-R-L-R, so that's how it is usually.
Splitting up the "Australia's leading bowler" section into two or three sections could be beneficial.- Yup.
The entire first paragraph of "Farewell and legacy" is unreferenced.- Heh. Pahnto282 split the paras. ok sourced.
Please provide the book details for Benaud's often-cited book in the "References" section, and move the Pollard and Cashman references to the References section of consistency.- Yes, but I normally do not move the book into refs unless different parts of the book are cited over and over. Here it is just one section of the book and there is only a need for one ref. Bendua given,
- OK, fair enough. 03:05, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Format the http://aus.cricinfo.com/db/STATS/TESTS/BOWLING/TEST_BOWL_BEST_AVS.html reference.- Yup

Orphaned references in Alan Davidson (cricketer)
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Alan Davidson (cricketer)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Requested move 20 May 2017
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: No consensus to move after over 2 weeks and a relisting. Cúchullain t/c 18:10, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
Alan Keith Davidson → Alan Davidson – WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. This Alan Davidson (AKD) is a major figure in cricket history, a fact that WP recognises via his assessment of class=GA and importance=mid. The other five Alan Davidsons are notable but none have the significance of AKD. I propose AKD moves to the existing Alan Davidson which currently redirects to the disambiguation page where all six are listed. Anyone who knows about cricket or about Australian sport will immediately recognise the name Alan Davidson as AKD and he is the person who would naturally be used as a link from other articles on those subjects. Thanks. Jack | talk page 16:21, 20 May 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 21:53, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- Support. AKD should be the primary topic for the title Alan Davidson. WWGB (talk) 01:33, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose – No clear primary topic. Alan Davidson (food writer) got on average 15 page views per day this year, and Alan Davidson (Australian footballer) got 13. In comparison, AKD, between his two page titles (the page has been moved this year) averages around 17. More, but certainly not enough to suggest that it is a clear primary topic. Sure, in the cricket world we immediately think of AKD, but in the food world, they would immediately think of the other, and in Australian football the other again. Cricket is not the primary topic of Wikipedia, and we shouldn't seek to impose that it is. Harrias talk 11:27, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Harrias:. That's certainly a good argument. I'm wondering if we should move AKD to Alan Davidson (New South Wales cricketer) and Alan Davidson (cricketer, born 1897) to Alan Davidson (Victoria cricketer)? I'm loath to use Alan Davidson (cricketer). Thanks. Jack | talk page 15:53, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Comment. Alan Davidson (cricketer) is already, and correctly, tagged as {{R from incomplete disambiguation}}. It should not be the title of an article. See WP:QUALIFIER. Narky Blert (talk) 08:19, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

- Support. Page views and Google hits aren't everything. AKD is WP:PRIMARY. Full disclosure: I'm a Pom.
- Comment. Is this the result of a recent move? Alan Davidson -> Alan Davidson (disambiguation) is a WP:MALPLACED error. Narky Blert (talk) 08:19, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Narky Blert: I have moved the disambiguation page back to the base title per WP:MALPLACED. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 16:34, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. The requirement for PT is not just that it should be most significant topic or most common search target, but more than all others combined. There's no case for that above. Andrewa (talk) 15:13, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
