Edits

[edit]

I'm improving the page for a class project under the supervision of Dr. Lesly Temesvari (Username: LTEMESV) at Clemson University. Mullig6 (talk) 15:23, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mullig6 - first, your course page, instructor, and students should be listed here on the talk page as a course under the supervision of Wiki Ed. Note to Ian (Wiki Ed). Other editors need to know the intent of the course and whether edits are peer-reviewed and supervised by your instructor. Your edits do not appear to be well-supervised.
This revert was justified because your edit and sources introduce extensive speculation about anti-disease effects and are based only on in vitro, lab rodent or preliminary human studies. WP:BMI reviews are needed for such information, but this area of research is too preliminary for comprehensive reviews to have been published in clinical journals.
Your overall edit is admirable for the writing and support of the content by lab research - this would be appropriate for a term paper, but is not appropriate for an encyclopedia, which depends on more advanced research and stronger review sources - see WP:MEDRS.
1. there is no established 'Role in human health'. the sources do not meet MEDRS for such anti-disease claims. The studies cited in this section are preliminary lab reports.
2. the section on gut barrier function is entirely conjecture derived from lab research. No BMI review is used or would support these conclusions.
3. the section on immune modulation is based only on rodent research. It is conjecture, not mainstream scientific facts, with no BMI review.
4. there are no MEDRS sources to justify the section on cancer. This is speculation and exaggeration of effects inferred from lab studies.
5. the section on therapeutics is your impression of a future use without using a BMI review. This is WP:SYNTH of sources and an original research opinion.
Suggestion is for you to discuss this analysis with your instructor, and amend the work for your course accordingly. Zefr (talk) 19:22, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping, Zefr. I'll ask Helaine to reach out to the instructor and see if we can get them on board. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:39, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. No worries, I'll work on it with my supervisor. I appreciate your kindness in this, as this is my first time doing an edit on wikipedia, and I'm doing my best. Thank you. 2603:6080:D500:7060:2116:2090:1D0D:4DB2 (talk) 20:52, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
