Family

[edit]

Kew Bulletin has published a paper establishing a new family Afrothismiaceae. It cites a cladogram from a 2022 paper which has Thismieae and Afrothismia closer to Dioscorea than to Burmannia, and rather than sinking them into Dioscoreaceae, recognises Thismiaceae (ex Burmanniaceae), and Taccaceae and Trichopodaceae (ex Dioscoreaceae). The Kew Bulletin paper provides a name at familial rank for the remaining lineage. POWO still places Afrothismia in Burmanniaceae. Lavateraguy (talk) 14:55, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
