"If the current URL fails to appear, move the mouse's focus away from the address bar and then refresh." This is indicative of a knowledgebase or instructional article instead of a proper encyclopedia entry. The page needs a lot of work to bring it up to Wikipedia standards. 174.18.34.159 (talk) 06:38, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What does URL stand for ? I think that information needs to be shown.

See URL. ffm 16:23, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Does anyone understand why Safari will encode spaces in the URL with %20 but Firefox will not? And the rationale to do it one way vs. another?

Fair use rationale for Image:Safari 3 URL bar.png

[edit]

Image:Safari 3 URL bar.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Request screenshot of safari

[edit]

Can someone provide a screenshot of safari's addr bar under SSL? ffm 12:55, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do we actually need a bunch of screenshots here? They do not differ that much. I think one or two screenshots of a free software browser will be enough. Ian (77.253.252.117 (talk) 10:24, 5 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Chrome

[edit]

We need some pics and some explanation from Google Chrome's innovation, the merging of the address bar and search bar. Also, the Firefox pics should be updated to reflect the latest GUI, or may I upload Windows screenshots for the same? -- Tomjenkins52 (talk) 04:14, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Terminology (favicon)

[edit]

What is the name of the little icon in front of the actual address? Is this significant to the article? Does it have a name?--Ollyoxenfree (talk) 00:59, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Found the word, favicon I think it should be mentioned somewhere in the article.--Ollyoxenfree (talk) 01:56, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's the first point under features already! mabdul 10:59, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Screenshots need updating

[edit]

Recently, both Firefox and Chrome have removed the distinguishing visuals for sites with EV certificates, see this article. Websites accessed over plain HTTP now display warnings about them being insecure. I don't have a HiDPI display, so my screenshots would be terrible. --BertalanD (talk) 15:36, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
