active pharmaceutical ingredients

Added section on standardization of herbal medicine products where the very concept of "active ingredient" is controversial since most phytopharmaceuticals rely upon constituent synergy for their activities. Plants with assumed active constituents like ginsenosides or hypericin may not correlate with the strength of the herbs. Many herbs are poorly characterized or while well-characterized will rely upon the synergy of otherwise week principles. Ksvaughan2 18:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What are the ingredients in Vicodin —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.171.171.62 (talk) 03:06, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Inert ingredient

[edit]

It seems a shame there's no inert ingredient article at the moment, despite there being this active ingredient one, wouldn't you agree? After all, there are these 18 WP articles that refer to "inert ingredient".

There's inactive ingredient, which just redirects to excipient. I would create one, but feel I lack the subject-knowledge.

Can we use LR grade material as an API in pharmacetical product?

[edit]

If any LR grade material passed all test as per Pharmacopoeia, can we claim it for pharmacopeial staus? Can we use this material for use in Pharmaceutical industry as an ingredient?
