Election of the Senate
[edit]Since I can get no answer of this on the senate page, I thought I'd ask it here. Must the members of the senate including the governing mayor be chosen from within the Abgeordnetenhaus? If so, how are the vacancies that are created by this elevation to the senate filled in the Abgerdnetenhaus? If this is in fact not the case and anyone resident residing within Berlin can be chosen, that needs to be made clear. I tried reading the city constitution, but it doesn't appear to specify this, or the English translation gloss over this. --Criticalthinker (talk) 11:35, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- I wrote the Governing Mayor's office about this. Apparently, I was not wrong about one aspect: the city constitution does not speak on this. So the Governing Mayor and Senate are not required to be elected from within the House. However, that still leaves the issue of how vacant seats are filled in the House when Governing Mayors and Senators are sitting members of the House before their appointment. I don't know how rare this is, but I don't think it's so rare that no one would know the process of replacing House memembers who are promoted to the Senate or Governing Mayor's office. --Criticalthinker (talk) 11:36, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
AfD as Support
[edit]On this page the Afd is categorized as Support. However it is not known whether the AfD voted for Wegner to become Governing Mayor. They claim to have done but Wegner on the other hand denied that claiming that all the votes were cast by the members of the Grand Coaltion.
Also in Germany there are no other partys as categorized as support. This is because Germany relies on a system in which Coaltions govern. Unlike in Westminster Systems like Sweden or Norway it is almost impossible to have a minority government which is the reason why the poisiton of support has not been established in Germany.
Therefore I'd suggest moving them into the Oppostion Category. IchAiBims (talk) 20:02, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
