Untitled
[edit]Since 8 Mile was written by Scott Silver and directed by Curtis Hanson, how can it be semiautobiographical? -- Zoe
"Debate about biographical nature" seems a little amateurish.
RE: Semi-Autobiographal
[edit]Maybe, they interviewed Eminem before making it.
Or, maybe, it was influenced by his songs. His songs, if based on fact, are semi-autobiograph- al, too.

Oscar
[edit]Didn't this movie get an oscar for the song? Probably mentionable. Hamedog 01:09, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Redirection
[edit]should 8 mile be different from 8 Mile in terms of where it redirects? Mistakenly I removed the redirects from tag earlier due to this issue of capitalization. Khromatikos 21:41, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
does this make sense?
[edit]Rabbit's best friend "Future" is the MC of this event and is played by Mekhi Phifer, whose vast and varied range encompassed playing Mekhi Phifer in a variety of roles.
did he play himself in the movie....? i don't remember this. and the sentence is pretty confusing and redundant
Yeah, I don't really uh .. Get it .. From the sounds of it, it's saying Mekhi Phifer played several different roles in the movie, though I'm pretty sure he only played Future .. Anyone want to fix this to something coherent? Mattfish 16:48, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Song
[edit]May not be relevant, but is the song in the opening worth mentioning? You know, where Jimmy is in the bathroom before he throws up, trying to prepare for the battle. I think it's also either the beat to his last Rap Battle, or the one right before it. Mattfish 00:03, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
yes it is, its by Mobb Deep "Shook Ones Pt. II". Needless to say it played a huge role in Detroit hip hop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.209.165.98 (talk) 23:31, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
What fanboy wrote this?
[edit]As quoted on the 8 mile page:
"....lives with both parents who have a real good marriage which is usually very unfit in a hardcore environment like the 313, where you're supposed to be someone from "the streets".
To whomever wrote the above: Word homey, they grammar and they neutral point of view don't mean shit, 'specially not on wikipedia dawg. Peace out —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.168.240.245 (talk • contribs).
little idea that might help
[edit]just wondering maybe someone could like put on a little section for stupid people where it explains the disses in the rap battle at the end cuz like if you watch it on YouTube on something without the movie it gets pretty tough to figure out. I know it sounds stupid but hey, who gives a shit?Tictac47 22:13, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Biographical nature
[edit]The film is often mentioned as being partly autobiographical (including on the Eminem page). Whether or not this is true, it should be discussed in the article, with cited sources providing evidence for either side or both. There is more information about the subject on the Eminem page then there is on this one. 69.111.84.75 (talk) 08:34, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Huh?
[edit]I think it's kind of idiotic that the creator of 8 Mile's Wikipedia article put the rating section in it! >:-( 2:04 PM 2/28/10 Daemonheart —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daemonheart (talk • contribs) 20:05, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Cast
[edit]There is a much broader cast of 8 Mile than what is listed. TomUSA My talk page 23:42, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Soundtrack
[edit]I think we should remove the infobox and tracklist and just have the redirect, since its all covered on the article page.Jasper420 22:29, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Sister vs daughter edits
[edit]The movie is not about Marshall Mathers, the girl is not Hailie. It's his sister:

Image of poster is inversed wrong way
[edit]Don't know why I'm being peculiar about this point. B Rabbit is shown to be left handed in the original cover poster. However, thi poster shows him to be right handed which is wrong. Can someone post a picture with him left handed which is the original poster. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.1.87.234 (talk) 22:03, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
The link for the actor who played the character "Paul" Craig Chandler, in the character section is wrong.
[edit]Unless a conservative Canadian pundit came to America to play a gay man in this movie I think the link for Craig Chandler goes to the wrong Craig Chandler's wikipedia page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.14.173.254 (talk) 14:48, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Plot Correction
[edit]A detail on the plot i just corrected "he accidentaly shoots himself in the leg" ir wrong. Cheddar bob accidentaly shoots himself in the testicles. P.S: i x i saw the movie so i know what im talking about. Besides, later in the movie ohter chatacters mock cheddar bob for having shot himself in the testicles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drumerwritter (talk • contribs) 20:55, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: not moved. Number 57 22:53, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
– WP:ASTONISH: the street it was named after doesn't even have its own article, it's just part of M-102 (Michigan highway). Unreal7 (talk) 16:49, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose whether something has it's own article is irrelevant. Why do we keep having RMs presented and turned down with this as part of the rationale? The article is a film, (film) is helpful to readers, it doesn't pass the second part of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC so why move it? In ictu oculi (talk) 19:04, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- Support per nom. The existence of other topics doesn't mean this can't be the primary one. Calidum T|C 20:17, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose - This is such an important street in the Detroit metro area (it has been the traditional separator between Detroit itself and the suburbs to the north) that I think that if that phrase is not directed to a disambig page (as it is now) that we will start seeing articles intending to link to the street that inadvertently link to the film. With the phrase pointing to the disambig page, at least ediitors will be warned if they create such a link. KConWiki (talk) 13:03, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose – per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT, "The fact that an article has a different title is not a factor in determining whether a topic is primary." Thus, the fact that the important street, after which the film was named, is discussed (rather extensively) in an article with a different title is irrelevant. And the street is not the only alternative topic. Disambiguation is appropriate. —BarrelProof (talk) 23:03, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
