Concerns

[edit]

@This is Paul would this article not fall under WP:TOOSOON and WP:FUTURE? I'm certain there will be a leadership election eventually, but the leader just resigned. There certainly won't be an announcement for a leadership election for a bit yet. B3251(talk) 21:32, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially it could be a bit early I suppose, although this article from Politico does mention that Ryan said a leadership election will occur, and everyone in the parliamentary party appears to be gearing up for a contest. This is Paul (talk) 21:40, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, just wanted to ask about it. I'm not proposing or nominating for deletion but unless more certain details emerge soon alluding to the party officially organizing a leadership election, somebody else may if they feel this is too early of an article. B3251(talk) 22:28, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, hopefully there'll be an announcement about the timeframe of proceedings during the next couple of days. This is Paul (talk) 22:35, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deputy leadership

[edit]

I was under the impression that the deputy leader was appointed by the leader, but it's actually an elected position.

Ossian Smyth already made his intention to run for deputy leader, but now Neasa Hourigan has put herself forward too. Do we include a separate section on the deputy leadership contest on the page? Lough Swilly (talk) 15:26, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think we can do that as they're both occurring at the same time. There are some separate deputy leadership articles (such as 2022 Green Party of England and Wales deputy leadership election), but they appear to relate to elections that happened at a different time to the leadership contest.
