Lead

User:DeFacto [1] No need for references in the lead, which should be a summary of the referenced main article body. It's not quite black and white, and for such a current event where we kept having the attacker and motivation/reason removed from the lead it seemed appropriate. MOS:LEADCITE actually says The necessity for citations in a lead should be determined on a case-by-case basis by editorial consensus. Complex, current, or controversial subjects may require many citations; others, few or none. The presence of citations in the introduction is neither required in every article nor prohibited in any article. so if there's multiple RS saying this is terrorism and the attacker, then they shouldn't be removed from the lead, and the RS back that up with policy (within consensus and editorial judgement of course). @Widefox: yes, and my view is that there is no need for them, especially in an article this short, as they add nothing but clutter. -- DeFacto (talk). 13:58, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
