Who invaded whom
[edit]It seems like several IP editors have an issue with how the article currently says that it was Somali who invaded Ethiopia. However, the only source we currently have that goes into detail on the course of the war, Ayele's The Ethiopian Army: From Victory to Collapse, says that this was the case, so unless you can find sources that say otherwise, please do not change that it was Somali who invaded. According to [1] it was Ethiopia that attacked Somalia. "In November Mogadishu signed a military assistance pact with the Soviet Union, which undertook to equip a 20,000-man army. Shocked, the Ethiopians attacked Somalian border posts and adjacent towns in January 1964 and, after hard fighting, forced a cease-fire" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.230.147.55 (talk) 18:40, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
Who won?
[edit]None of our current sources (as far as I can tell) name a victor in the war. However, as it was a Somali invasion which Ethiopia repulsed, it seems to me to be an Ethiopian victory. If there is a big dispute about this, however, it might be best to change it to Status quo ante bellum. Leviavery (talk) 23:41, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- No one. Some sources claim a Somali victory, others an Ethiopian one. Accounts from both sides believe the other party invaded first and was successfully repelled. Status quo ante bellum is the best solution for this conflict. Whoopsawa (talk) 23:44, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

[edit]all sorces say it was a somali aggration not ethiopia — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.226.10.165 (talk) 10:13, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that this was an Ethiopian victory as most of the sources say that it was Somalia who invaded and was repelled according toSomali Irredentism: An analysis of its causes and its impact on political stability in Somalia from 1960 -1991.
