Shajaan Muaz Shaheem (Dhivehi: ޝަޖާން މުއާޒް ޝަހީމް) is the wife of Maldivian Parliamentarian MP Ahmed Haitham,[1][2][3][4] she is the Secretary General of the Feline Welfare Organisation of Maldives,[5][6][7][8] Ahmed Haitham, Throughout his tenure, she faced significant threats to her life due to her husband's political involvement, particularly his outspoken stance on social justice and child welfare issues. In 2021, while pregnant with twins,[9][10] Shajan Muaz Shaheem was the victim of a violent attack, which resulted in trauma and the premature birth of her children.[11][12][13][14] Following this, she continued to experience persistent threats,[15][16][17] harassment, and including a near-fatal car crash reportedly caused by unknown assailants in Sri Lanka,[18][19][20][21][22] as well as an explosion that damaged her car,[23][24] which Sri Lankan police believe was the result of an implanted device.[25] These events were linked to Haitham's political actions, including his role in exposing corruption. Despite numerous attempts to ensure her safety,[26][27] the family was subjected to a sustained campaign of intimidation and violence, exacerbating their precarious situation during their time in Sri Lanka.[28][29][30][31]
