Samuel Joseph Stokes (September 8, 1889 - October 28, 1933) was an American ragtime composer.

Samuel Joseph Stokes was born in New Orleans, Louisiana.[citation needed]

Career

Stokes is known for composing four ragtime pieces for solo piano, one of which, the North Pole Rag was published by Louis Grunewald in 1909. The other three pieces - Dynamite Rag (1908), Salome Rag (1909), and Thunderbolt Rag (1910) - were self published.[1]

Personal life

Stokes married Harriet Williams in New Orleans on August 3, 1914.[citation needed]
