Roldiah Matulessy (11 August 1925 – 1 December 2009), often known by her nickname Roldiah, was an Indonesian actress and singer. She was known as the oldest winner of Citra Award for Best Supporting Actress on Indonesian Film Festival in 1987 for her role in Nagabonar (1987). Matulessy was also earned a nomination of Citra Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Bawalah Aku Pergi (1982) and gained acclaim for her role as Minah in Tragedi Bintaro (1989).
Early life
[edit]Matulessy was born on 11 August 1925 in Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta.[1] She completed junior school education.[1]
Career
[edit]Matulessy started her career at the age of 12 by partaking a minor role in Terang Boelan (1937).[1] She took a nine year hiatus from film and began her career as a singer and stage actress.[1] Matulessy returned to film by starred in Air Mata Mengalir di Tjitarum (1948) followed by Sepiring Nasi (1951), Bintang Surabaya (1951), Sehidup Semati (1952), Dendang Sayang (1953), Malu-Malu Kucing (1954), Singa Betina Dari Marunda (1961), and etc.[1] She then became active as a singer and comedian, and appeared in Perkawinan Dalam Semusim (1977), Widuri Kekasihku (1977), Kekasih (1977), Donat Pahlawan Pandir (1978), and etc.[1]
Death
[edit]Matulessy died at a nursing home in Bintaro, Pesanggrahan, on 1 December 2009 at the age of 84.[citation needed] She was buried at Tanah Kusir Cemetery.[citation needed]

During her career Matulessy was nominated for two Citra Awards. Her first nomination, in 1982, was for the film Bawalah Aku Pergi; she received a nomination for the Citra Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 1987 she won the Citra Award for Best Supporting Actress, for the films Nagabonar, which then makes her as the oldest actress to receive a Citra Award on Indonesian Film Festival.[2]
