Known as a prominent Dalit leader, he served as the MLA from Patel Nagar after winning the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections.[5][6][7] In November 2022, he was inducted into the Delhi Cabinet, where he managed key portfolios such as Social Welfare, SC & ST, Gurudwara Elections, and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.[8][9] In April 2024, Anand resigned from AAP and the Delhi Cabinet, citing inadequate representation of Dalits within the party.[10][11][12] He contested the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from New Delhi constituency against candidates like Bansuri Swaraj of BJP and Somnath Bharti of AAP.[13] He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in July 2024.[14][15]
