[edit]- 1859 – The Chicago and North Western Railway is chartered.
20th century
[edit]- 1922 – Yatsugi Station in Minami Hatajiki-machi, Miyoshi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, is opened.
- 2000 – The Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel, originally built for rail traffic in 1943, opens for combined rail/highway traffic, making it the longest combined rail/highway tunnel in North America.
