NET88 is a Vietmanese betting firm founded in 2015. The firm has been in the midst of several controversies since 2024.
History
[edit]NET88 was founded in 2015 by Minh Châu.[1] The UK trademark was filed on 13 March 2024.[2] In 2024, NET88 became the sponsor of Premier League club Crystal Palace for a two year deal, replacing previous sponsor Cinch.[3][4] NET88 had little online presence before the deal, and didn't have an Twitter account until June 2024.[5][6]
Controversy
[edit]In the days following Crystal Palace's announcement, NET88 received large criticism. Trademarks for NET88 and Wolverhampton Wanderers' sponsor DEBET had been filed in the same day.[7][8] In addition, the image shown for Minh Châu in their website was in reality one of a Vietnamese TikToker named Đặng Ngọc Bích Tuyền, who perished in 2023.[9][7]
