@DeluxeVegan: The old map, so far as I can see, only highlights the parts of the erstwhile kingdown of Kashmir that are currently administered by India. The new one also highlights the other parts; and I'm wondering why, and if the coloration is appropriate. I don't want to make a switch until that concern has been addressed. Yes, but this Module isn't used to discuss the history of Kashmir, is it? My understanding is that this is for locations within the erstwhile state (now within the union territory). As such information outside its boundaries is extraneous. Vanamonde (Talk)17:47, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Prior to the J&K reorganisation, the entire Kashmir region was claimed by India under a single administrative division. This map shows both the official and de-facto boundaries of the new union territory. --RaviC (talk) 18:45, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@RaviC: Perhaps you could upload a new file depicting only the de-facto boundaries for the purpose of this module? Sorry if I seem to be asking too much. Thanks, DeluxeVegan (talk) 18:52, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The previous version of the module made no distinction, in color, between Pakistan, China, Azad Kashmir, Aksai Chin, and so forth. This one differentiates them. I'm not saying it's necessarily incorrect; but replacing the old file with RaviC's current version would require a talk page consensus at the very least; whereas one which merely redraws the boundaries could be used without further ado. This map covers way to much territory for just doing the territory of Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory. We can use File:India Jammu and Kashmir UT adm location map.svg instead which still shows the territory as disputed but does not show the entire disputed Kashmir region - we already have a map for the full territory here. User:Paine Ellsworth, this edit leads to [[1]] getting changed to disputed status, as the map is changed by a user on commons. Undo this change, as it unnecessarily leading to conflict, where I have reverted the changes. Only Indian side of Kashmir map is now shown as striped as disputed, while Pakistan side as seen in Muzaffarabad is shown as undisputed, this is a biased narrative. This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered.
Thanks. I have stopped edit warring, I have uploaded the pic as a new file, as I have been informed that 3RR doesnt apply in commons. However, the bigger map in this module had not marked the area as disputed, which stayed for all these years in all the articles. Crashed greek (talk) 08:00, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
